Season One

1. Brothers In Arms (OAD 09/28/03)
   Former Brooklyn bad boy Rico Amonte begins his six-month probationary period as a Los Angeles deputy sheriff trainee. Unfortunately, he makes a decidedly bad first impression on his training officer and new partner — Senior Deputy John Henry Barnes, a tough veteran cop. With their bad start behind them, the partners are in-service — "10-8" in Sheriff's lingo — and ready to respond to all calls. With Barnes at the helm and the patrol car as the classroom, Rico begins a variety of crazy encounters — with everyone from an agitated stripper to a not-so-bright gunman — and learns the hard way that trainees are not allowed to have pizza delivered to the squad car.
    
2. A Hard Days Night (OAD 10/05/03)
   At the start of his shift, an exhausted Rico is looking forward to some time off. But after a black cat crosses his path, his day goes from bad to worse. Based on his Italian family's history with black cats and bad luck, Rico is convinced that the cat is to blame for his day of missteps and mishaps. Meanwhile, sexually frustrated trainee Lopez inadvertently reveals to Jablonski what she plans to do on her much-needed day off.
    
3. Gun Of A Son (OAD 10/12/03)
   Rico and his visiting dad, a retired boxing champ from Brooklyn, revert to their old verbal sparring as Rico — who wants his Pop to see that he's left behind his bad-boy days — tries to figure out the real reason his widowed father has come to see him and brother Angelo. And Rico's natural sex appeal helps him track down an assault suspect.
    
4. Badlands (OAD 10/19/03)
   In spite of Barnes' warning to not get emotionally involved, a genuinely concerned Rico goes beyond the call of duty to search for an abused boy's real father; and although Valero and Williams fear the worst after seeing a white woman get into an SUV with four gang members, the outcome is certainly not what they expect.
    
5. Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik (OAD 10/26/03)
   The booking of a drunk clown and a mishap involving airplane lavatory 'residue' pale in comparison to what becomes the day's priority for the sheriffs — finding a ruthless murderer. Barnes hopes an ex-con now in the business of gang intervention can lead them to the killer, and, during a frightening confrontation, Rico's respect for his training officer increases.
    
6. Mercy, Mercy Me (OAD 11/02/03)
   Now that he's in law enforcement, Rico learns that the self-defense techniques he used in Brooklyn won't fly in the sheriff's department. When a hulk of a man blindsides him with mean force for no apparent reason, Rico's response comes under investigation and he fears that his time in the sheriff's department might now be limited. Meanwhile, a softer side of the usually tough Barnes emerges when Earl, an elderly man in Barnes' old neighborhood, is assaulted by gang members.
    
7. Late For School (OAD 11/09/03)
   Just when Rico has gotten used to Barnes making his life miserable while teaching him the ropes, Barnes has a dizzy spell and is put on desk duty by Capt. Briggs. When Rico meets his temporary TO, tough, brassy and very attractive Senior Deputy Ryan Layne (Jamie Luner), a divorcee and twelve-year veteran of the sheriff's department, sexual tensions fly.
    
8. Gimme Shelter (OAD 11/23/03)
   With his eight-week evaluation date looming, Barnes and Capt. Briggs warn Rico that he needs to stop letting his emotions rule his work and start using the training he has gotten thus far. Then, just when it looks like things couldn't get any worse, Rico's chances of staying on the force grow even dimmer when the squad car he was driving is stolen.
    
9. Let It Bleed (OAD 11/30/03)
   When an off-duty Rico witnesses a fatal shooting at a video store and fingers the killer, he suddenly becomes a target for revenge by a local Asian gang, but finds support in his ordeal from an unlikely source. Meanwhile the deputies on duty encounter, among other things, furniture repo men and a man being attacked with ingredients for fried chicken.
    
10. The Wild Bunch (OAD 12/07/03)
    Before the public's trust in law enforcement fades any further, Rico, Barnes and the other deputies must find a group who are posing as cops and committing home invasion robberies. Meanwhile, Jablonski is baffled when the same criminal keeps escaping his grasp, and Layne and Williams are grossed out when they find the source of a strange odor emanating from a janitor's apartment.
     
11. Lucy In The Sky (OAD 12/21/03)
    Rico continues to get lessons on the ways of women when he's involved in busting an illegal female fight club ring and takes a shine to Lucy, one of the more talented boxers. Meanwhile, the usually calm and collected Williams is shaken when a beautiful redhead from his past shows up at Lasky Station, and the deputies try to catch an elusive group of burglars responsible for a string of armed robberies.
     
12. Flirtin' with Disaster (OAD 01/11/04)
    Rico, Barnes and the other deputies must tread carefully with a man who has taken his runaway granddaughter's fifth grade class hostage. Meanwhile, the fear that Rico and Barnes have about snakes is compounded when they have to capture a 20-foot python in an apartment hallway, and Lopez learns a touching but sad fact about Jablonski's recent past.
     
13. Gypsy Road (OAD 01/18/04)
    After Rico and Barnes find an abandoned baby girl, the remorseful 16-year-old homeless mother shows up to claim her daughter; and even though she accepts responsibility for what she has done, the sheriffs must still press charges against her. Meanwhile, Lopez has to confront her gang past when she sees two homegirls from her old neighborhood making the same mistakes she did.
     
14. Love Don't Love Nobody (OAD 01/25/04)
    A shootout erupts between warring gangs at a funeral, but the situation becomes more complicated when Rico and Barnes realize that Kenya, the sister of a gang member in the Eastside Brims, is in love with Dwayne, whose brother is the leader of the Westside Blackstones. Meanwhile Barnes must keep his temper in check after finding out that his 15-year-old daughter, Maya, has a boyfriend, and, with the L.A. Peace Officer's Charity Ball coming up, the deputies must find dates.
