Season One

  1. Pilot (OAD July 11 2004)
When a comet that was supposed to harmlessly fly - by the Earth suddenly changes course, the extinction of mankind seems imminent. Countries around the world launch nuclear missiles to destroy the comet before it can destroy us, but surprisingly the missiles have no affect. This is no comet. The ball of light enters the atmosphere and just when it looks like we're about to go the way of the dinosaur, the light slows, hovers and eventually touches down. Soon after, the light shrinks to an intense point, then explodes outward in a concussive burst, leaving behind forty-four hundred people. Men, women and children of all ages. All are missing persons, all have been gone anywhere from a few months to 60 years -- and none have aged a day beyond when they were last seen.
The 4400 are rounded up, quarantined and eventually released back to their families. We follow the lives of an ensemble cast of characters as they begin to reconnect with their "life interrupted." But all is not well. Soon after the 4400 are released, some of the returnees begin to experience unexplainable, and to some, uncontrollable new abilities. It's up to our heroes Tom Bishop and Diana Skouris, two Homeland Security agents to unravel the mystery behind the 4400.

  2. The New and Improved Carl Morrissey (OAD July 18 2004)
Tom and Diana investigate a vigilante who turns out to be a member of the 4400. It seems that supermarket employee Carl Morrissey has been a loser his whole life, but after having gone missing for 18 months, Carl discovers that he somehow now possesses enhanced reflexes and strength. Carl uses these skills to wage a one-man war against crime in his neighborhood, becoming a hero not only to himself but to Grace as well. But fighting crime can prove deadly, even for a member of the 4400.
Meanwhile, Richard and Lily have moved in together. As Richard struggles to find work, he must also deal with a pregnant Lily's claims that the baby, still in vitro, is able to communicate its thoughts and feelings to her.
Elsewhere, Shawn and Nikki's attraction to one another continues to intensify in spite of Danny's growing suspicions, Meanwhile, Diana finds herself growing close to eight-year old pre-cog Maia. Concerned about Maia's lab-rat existence in quarantine, she invites the girl to move in with her.

  3. Becoming (OAD July 25 2004)
A homicide in rural Washington bears all the hallmarks of the "Friday Harbor Killer," a serial murderer who was active 25 years ago but never apprehended. Tom and Diana are dispatched to investigate a possible connection between the murder and Oliver Knox, a member of the 4400 who recently resurfaced in the community. Knox has an airtight alibi for the night of the murder, and when another man confesses to all of the murders, the case seems to be solved. But the killings continue - and with each murder, another person comes forward to confess to all the crimes. Forced to contend with the possibility that Knox is somehow convincing his neighbors to commit murder on his behalf, Tom and Diana lay a trap that they hope will prove Knox is complicit in the killings.
Meanwhile, as public sentiment toward the 4400 begins to turn hostile, millionaire Jordan Collier seeks to organize his fellow returnees. After Shawn, Richard, and Lily attend a meeting hosted by Collier, they all find themselves involved with this charismatic leader. However, Collier's intense interest in Lily makes Richard uncomfortable - why is Collier so eager to insinuate himself into their lives?
Elsewhere, when Tom receives news that Kyle's condition has begun to deteriorate, he is forced to confront the possibility that his son may never wake up from his coma. But Shawn's conversations with Collier have convinced him to explore his abilities, and when Shawn learns that Kyle might be dying, he visits the hospital. Shawn touches his cousin, and he is able to rouse Kyle from his comatose state.

  4. Trial by Fire (OAD August 1 2004)
A series of firebombings threatens the lives of the 4400 after their names and addresses are made public by a muckraking journalist named Barbara Yates. As Tom, Diana, and Ryland scramble to stop the bombings, Tom must also deal with the erratic and disturbing behavior of his newly-awakened son, Kyle, while Diana also struggles to be a good surrogate mother to Maia. Their work is complicated even further by the arrival of the aggressive and ambitious Warren Lyttel, a Homeland Security agent from Washington who threatens to take over responsibility for the 4400.
In response to the explosions, Jordan Collier, the charismatic leader of the 4400, tries to provide his fellow returnees with a safe and secure place to live. Richard and Lily, now bombed out of their apartment, are recruited to join Jordan, but soon question his motives and judgment as the bombings intensify. Meanwhile, Shawn and Nikki's relationship heats up with a fire of its own.
As the bombings get bigger, more frequent, and more dangerous, Tom and Diana race against time to prevent the 4400, including Richard, Lily, Maia, and Shawn, from being swept away in the flames.

  5. White Light (OAD August 8 2004)
Tom is livid when he finds out that Lyttel has unexpectedly taken his son Kyle into custody. Diana, who is having her own problems dealing with Maia, offers to help Tom break Kyle out of Lyttel's grasp.
Meanwhile, Richard is upset when he suspects Collier is maneuvering to take control of Lily's life. Soon after, Collier reveals his true colors, prompting Richard and Lily to leave Arcadia Estates and Jordan Collier behind.
Elsewhere, Danny is convinced he can win Nikki back with a grand gesture, but his effort backfires. Eventually, he comes to learn Nikki and Shawn have slept together, provoking a fight that results in Shawn leaving home.
As the lives of the 4400 intersect in new and unexpected ways and their storylines ramp toward their thrilling conclusions, Tom and Diana find themselves on the very beach where Shawn was taken. In an emotional and powerful moment, they finally learn the truth about what really happened to the 4400. It's a remarkable revelation, but leaves one troubling final question: is this the end - or just the beginning?

Season Two

  1. Wake-Up Call (OAD Jun 05 2005)
One year after the events on Highland Beach revealed that the 4400 were taken and returned by future humans, the world is a much different place. NTAC agent Tom Baldwin has been riding a desk job for the past 12 months, penance for his acts of insubordination despite the fact that those acts were key in unlocking the mystery behind the 4400. Kyle, Tom's son, has been living under observation at NTAC, where he has endured numerous tests that have revealed no new information. Diana Skouris, Tom's old partner, appeals to Nina Jarvis, the new head of the Pacific Northwest Division of NTAC, to reinstate Tom in the field. Diana has also adopted Maia Rutledge as her daughter, unaware that the girl still has precognitive insights.
Meanwhile, Richard, Lily, and their baby Isabelle (now six months old) are living in a mountain cabin, hiding from both Jordan Collier and NTAC. Collier has become the self-proclaimed figurehead of the 4400, and is on the verge of opening the first "4400 Center," a place intended not only for fellow returnees but also for regular, everyday people who are looking to "unlock" the 4400 within themselves. And Shawn Farrell has left his family behind to become Collier's protege, using his healing ability to bring in big money contributors to the center.
NTAC gets a call from Abenson Psychiatric Hospital, where Tess Doerner, a 4400 paranoid schizophrenic, seems to have taken some sort of mind control over the institution's orderlies and inmates. Upon his release from NTAC, Kyle is determined to "deprogram" Shawn and rescue him from Collier's clutches. And Richard and Lily are forced to flee their home when a religious zealot decides that baby Isabelle is the devil and must be destroyed.

  2. Voices Carry (OAD Jun 12 2005)
Gary Navarro, a minor league baseball player back after a 30-year absence, finds that hearing everyone's unspoken thoughts is driving him to the edge of madness. When he seeks help from NTAC, the higher-ups are more interested in how he can unearth information about Jordan Collier than how they can assist Garry with getting his life back. As the case occupies the majority of his time, Tom finds himself struggling with his responsibilities as a single father. Meanwhile, Kyle starts to get his life back through the prospect of a new relationship, Diana finds herself dealing with the unexpected arrival of her younger sister April, and as Richard, Lily, and Isabelle continue their life on the run, Richard grows increasingly disturbed by his daughter's apparent abilities.

  3. Weight Of The World (OAD Jun 19 2005)
After a 16-year absence, 4400 Trent Appelbaum returns to find his wife has passed away, leaving their daughter with a heavy financial burden. But Trent's luck soon takes a turn for the life changing when he accidentally discovers his ability to speed up weight-loss at an exponential rate. Now Fortune 500 companies are practically knocking down his door, each willing to pay top dollar for the right to put Trent's ability on the open market, but ultimately, Trent's ability turns deadly for the people who sample it. Meanwhile, Richard, Lily, and Isabelle find a respite from their life on the road at the home of a fellow 4400; at the 4400 Center, a celebrity pop star joins Collier's cause; and as Kyle attempts to catch up on his teenage years by attending a frat party, he learns that too much fun can be dangerous.

  4. Suffer The Children (OAD Jun 26 2005)
Back after 30 years, 4400 junior high school teacher Heather Tobey has unearthed her ability as a muse to bring out virtuoso-level talent in art and music in certain students. Although seen as an amazing feat by most of the parents in the community, a small minority find her skill threatening - and a possible danger to their children. These malcontents bring up charges of child abuse against Heather in order to bar her from teaching, and one of the students poses a different kind of threat to Heather when she fails to find the light inside of him. Meanwhile, Richard is caught off-guard when he is recognized as an "AWOL 4400" and arrested by a police officer, but in the end receives help from an unlikely source: Jordan Collier; Shawn gets involved with a group of homeless teenage runaways; and Kyle's episodes of lost time become more frequent.

  5. As Fate Would Have It (OAD Jul 10 2005)
NTAC goes on full alert when a terrified Maia informs Diana that she had a vision that Jordan Collier will be killed. As the agents scramble to find the potential assassin, Tom's troubles continue to build at home, where an increasingly alarmed Kyle struggles to find the cause of his fugue states. Meanwhile, Lily reunites with her daughter Heidi, but when Lily introduces Heidi to Isabelle, it becomes clear that the infant doesn't approve of her stepsister's entrance into their lives; Shawn brings one of the street kids, Liv, into the 4400 Center as a First Key, hoping to give her a new and better life off the streets; and NTAC issues a subpoena demanding Diana surrender Maia's diary of predictions.

  6. Life Interrupted (OAD Jul 17 2005)
Tom Baldwin wakes up to find everything his world is different: he's has a new wife, his son Kyle is a medical student, and, most disturbing of all, no one has ever heard of the 4400. While he still remains an agent working at NTAC with Diana, nothing else in his world resembles the predicament he was in 24 hours ago. His solace comes in form of his spouse, Alana, who happens to be a 4400. It turns out this world is a creation by the futurists to serve as a sanctuary for Tom, with his new wife at the nexus of it all. Tom is faced with the decision of whether to stay in this perfect life or return to his old one, where an uncertain future is depending on him.

  7. Carrier (OAD Jul 24 2005)
An entire town of dead people leads Tom and Diana on the grisly trail of Jean DeLynn Baker, a 4400 who has the ability to grow toxin-emitting spores on her hands. It seems Jean has come to the conclusion that the lethality she now possesses is not a curse, but is instead a gift that enables her to "purify humanity." Meanwhile, Matthew Ross joins the 4400 Center as an advisor to Shawn, who has become overwhelmed with a deluge of letters seeking help now that his healing powers have been made public. The Center also finds Lily trying to keep Isabelle at peace while she adjusts to her introduction to her stepsister Heidi. Elsewhere, still unaware of his role in Jordan Collier's assassination, Kyle reconnects with Wendy; and Diana leaves Maia in the care of her sister, who crosses the line and uses Maia's pre-cognitive abilities for profit.

  8. Rebirth (OAD Jul 31 2005)
Tom and Diana are caught in the middle of an international incident when Edwin Mayuya, a 4400 with the ability to repair damaged chromosomes in utero, is revealed to be a Rwandan war criminal. Despite the good Edwin has done, NTAC must weigh whether it is enough to absolve him of his crimes against humanity. Meanwhile, Richard attends a bittersweet reunion with his old Korean War buddies; Diana deals with her sister April's abuse of Maia's power; and Shawn tries to reconnect with his own family.

  9. Hidden (OAD Aug 07 2005)
NTAC follows a series of clues which leading them to Jordan Collier's killer, and when Tom discovers Kyle was the murderer, he must choose between the law and his family. Meanwhile, at the 4400 Center, Danny stirs up a mess with Liv - as well as with his brother Shawn in the process.

  10. Lockdown (OAD Aug 14 2005)
On Jordan Collier's birthday, an unknown 4400 releases a "rage bomb" at NTAC, causing all the male agents to revert to their primal instincts. In order to stop the spread of the behavior, NTAC goes into lockdown, sealing all personnel inside. Now it's up to Diana to find a cure and stop the carnage before it's too late. Meanwhile, Lily suspects the 4400 Center may have nefarious motives toward Isabelle, Shawn adjusts to being the figurehead of the 4400 in the media spotlight, and Kyle finds the prospect of a new romantic relationship.

  11. The Fifth Page (OAD Aug 21 2005)
When 4400s become ill with the same harsh and seemingly unfounded symptoms, NTAC issues a warrant to quarantine those afflicted. In an effort to avoid the confinement of the quarantine they were kept in when they first returned in August 2004, the 4400 Center establishes a safe house for its members. As the 4400s in hiding plot their next move, Agents Baldwin and Skouris race to find a cure for the infirmed - and discover a shocking secret in the process.

  12. Mommy's Bosses (OAD Aug 28 2005) Season Finale
On the heels of discovering that NTAC is behind the disease plaguing the 4400, Tom and Diana find themselves enveloped in a government conspiracy to hide the truth. Although the disease was an unforeseen side affect of an inhibitor secretly administered to the 4400 to prevent the emergence of special abilities, it's clear that the powers that be are more concerned with covering their tracks than curing the disease. Now Tom and Diana must face off against their own agency as they race against time to get to the bottom of NTAC's coverup and help find a cure before it's too late.

Season Three

  1. 11 Jun 06 The New World (Part 1)
The season opens mere seconds after we last saw Isabelle become a beautiful 20-year-old woman. Richard not only has to deal with this bizarre occurrence, but the discovery that his wife, Lily, has aged decades in a matter of moments and is now 75 years old.
Meanwhile, Tom and Diana deal with a radical 4400 organization calling themselves the Nova Group that has launched attacks against Dennis Ryland and the other bureaucrats involved with the promicin inhibitor scandal.
In a broadcast, the Nova Group promises the world a demonstration of their power on October 19.
In order to expedite the investigation, NTAC brings in Gary Navarro to assist (the telepath last seen in "Voices Carry"). But Tom and Diana soon discover that it is Gary, in fact, who's the mastermind behind the Nova Group.

  2. 11 Jun 06 The New World (Part 2)
At the 4400 Center, Isabelle attempts to adjust to being an adult and Richard tries to find a way to save a weakening Lily. Meanwhile, Diana attempts to help her daughter, Maia, who is having trouble controlling her pre-cognitive visions now that she is no longer on the promicin inhibitor.
Tom and Diana apprehend Gary, but he refuses to give any information about October 19. Meanwhile, it's learned that Shawn has been funding the Nova Group for months, unaware of their murderous intent. In an effort to right the wrong, Shawn helps NTAC arrest his contact in the Nova group, but this doesn't bring NTAC any closer to figuring out October 19.
Maia begins attending school at the 4400 Center. Meanwhile, Shawn helps Isabelle deal with the guilt of her mother's impending death. And Richard takes Lily on a trip to the cabin where they used to live for one last moment together.
    Lily dies peacefully.
October 19 arrives and the Nova group executes its plan, which is not an act of terror, but a positive demonstration of how the 4400 can benefit humanity.

  3. 18 Jun 06 Being Tom Baldwin
It's an ordinary day for Tom Baldwin, that is until Diana shows up at his house to arrest him for murder. It seems that earlier that morning Tom entered an NTAC interrogation room and shot T.J. Kim (the Nova member arrested in "A New World"). Several witnesses can even place him at the scene.
The problem is that Tom hasn't been in to work yet and has no recollection of anything Diana is talking about. Unwilling to turn himself in, Tom goes on the run and becomes a fugitive in order to get to the truth.
It's eventually discovered that a teenage 4400 named Boyd Gelder, recruited by Nova, was sent to kill T.J. Kim before she could compromise the organization. Gelder's ability allows him to make people perceive him to be any identity he chooses. In the end, Boyd Gelder is apprehended and Tom is able to clear his name.
At the 4400 Center, Shawn helps Isabelle catch up on some of the milestones she missed growing from an infant to a woman overnight: learning to drive, swim, etc. But Shawn soon learns that Isabelle's list includes losing her virginity to him. Shawn is hesitant since he promised Richard that he would be a friend and only a friend to his daughter. But in the end, Shawn gives in to temptation.
Meanwhile, Richard undertakes a journey to release Lily's ashes, and Diana discovers that Kevin Burkhoff, who has been injecting himself with doses of promicin, has developed a 4400 ability.
