About The Show
From the thrill of dancing to the new Ronettes song to the life-changing assassination of a beloved President, American Dreams follows one family's journey through the joys and pains of America in the '60s and early '70s. At the epicenter of these earth-shattering times is Meg Pryor, a style-conscious 15-year-old whose life revolves around the popular dance show, American Bandstand. While Meg's younger brother and sister are concerned with simple pursuits, her older brother, JJ, is fighting to follow his dreams instead of his father's. And unbeknownst to the kids, their parents are struggling to define their own evolving relationship as partners, parents and people. Meanwhile, the world swirls around them — a vibrant combination of rock and roll, equal rights and soon, war. How will the changing times change this American family?

    NEW EVOCATIVE DRAMA TELLS THE STORY OF THE PRYOR FAMILY OF PHILADELPHIA AS THEY BRACE FOR CULTURAL TURBULENCE AHEAD -- Meg Pryor's (Brittany Snow, "Guiding Light") lifelong dream is to dance on the iconic 1960s television series "American Bandstand," and along with her adventurous confidante, Roxanne Bojarski (Vanessa Lengies, "Popular Mechanics for Kids"), the 15-year-old's persistence pays off when they find themselves on camera, dancing amongst a variety of teen idols. While his younger sister realizes her dreams, JJ Pryor (Will Estes, "7th Heaven") questions his own childhood ambitions as he struggles to decide between striving for a Notre Dame football scholarship and making a life-altering change. Family patriarch Jack Pryor (Tom Verica, NBC's "Providence"), concerned with his children's defiant behavior as well as with wife Helen's (three-time Emmy nominee Gail O'Grady, "NYPD Blue") influential new friends (guest star Virginia Madsen, "The Rainmaker"), watches his idealistic family buckle under the era's social challenges on the eve of the decade's watershed event.     THE PRYOR FAMILY COMES TO GRIPS WITH A NATIONAL TRAGEDY -- Still in shock over the assassination of the President, the Pryors attempt to regain their normal routine in a changed world, looking to each other for an explanation of this tragedy. Additionally, Meg's (Brittany Snow) social world is rocked by the realization that her best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) was not invited to dance on American Bandstand - splitting this dynamic duo into a solo act. JJ (Will Estes) struggles to put his own life back in focus, fighting against his dad's (Tom Verica) desires for his future and his own longing to be back on the football field, while Helen (Gail O'Grady) broadens her mind, opening to the possibilities of going back to school.     THE PRYORS WELCOME A FRIENDLY FACE INTO THEIR HOME AND THEIR WORLD -- Coming to grips with the changing world around him, Jack (Tom Verica) welcomes Sam (Arlen Escarpeta), son of his longtime employee Henry (Jonathan Adams) -- and the newest student at East Catholic High -- into his home as he attempts to ease his transition into an unfamiliar situation. Enjoying the prestige of her new role as a regular on American Bandstand, Meg (Brittany Snow) hopes to win the affection of teen heartthrob Jimmy Riley (guest star Jesse Hutch), despite the interference of her newfound nemesis and fellow dancer Teresa (guest star). Meanwhile, Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen (Gail O'Grady) prepare for a new social experience of their own when they spend an evening with Helen's classmate Rebecca (Virginia Madsen), her husband (guest star) and their radical ideas.     DAYS BEFORE THE CITY CHAMPIONSHIP JJ QUESTIONS HIS FRIENDS' LOYALTY -- While preparing for the city championships, JJ (Will Estes) discovers some of Philadelphia's finest have offered his teammates money to throw the game, forcing him to question their integrity, as well as that of his police officer uncle Pete (guest star Matthew Armstrong) who stops by the house for a sudden strategy session. Meanwhile, Meg (Brittany Snow) who shows signs of affection for Luke (guest star Jamie Elman), a record store clerk at the Vinyl Crocodile and Patty's (Sarah Ramos) new piano teacher, is upset with Roxanne's (Vanessa Lengies) sudden interest in him.     LOVE IS IN THE AIR AS MEG BEGINS TO SEE LUKE IN A NEW LIGHT -- As the Christmas season takes hold, Meg (Brittany Snow) decides to spend more time with Luke (guest star Jamie Elman), venturing to the rough streets of North Philly to hear him play with a local Church choir, giving her a chance to get to know him better. Meanwhile, JJ (Will Estes) catches the eye of a slightly older and more experienced club employee (guest star Jessica Collins) and sneaks out of the Pryor house for a late night rendezvous. Catching on to both of his older children's escapades, Jack (Tom Verica) implores a slightly uneven standard of discipline, angering the family's growing feminist Helen (Gail O'Grady). Meanwhile, JJ (Will Estes) receives an early Christmas present with his acceptance into the University of Notre Dame, which prompts him to reconsider his break-up with longtime girlfriend, Beth (Rachel Boston). Elsewhere, Jack’s (Tom Verica) military expertise is called upon when a local boy serving in Vietnam goes missing and Henry (Jonathan Adams) looks for a raise during the store's holiday rush.     The Beatles' arrival in America sends the country and the Pryor household into a frenzy, except for a concerned JJ (Will Estes), who receives word that Notre Dame has denied him a full scholarship. Determined to afford his sonÓs college education, Jack (Tom Verica) seeks financial help from his successful and slightly distant older brother Ted (guest star Christopher Cousins) despite Pete (guest star Matthew John Armstrong ) and HelenÓs (Gail OÓGrady) concerns. Meanwhile, a confused Meg (Brittany Snow) attempts to classify her relationship with Luke (guest star Jamie Elman ), employing RoxanneÓs (Vanessa Lengies) "perfect plan" to determine if the record store clerk is in fact her boyfriend. Meanwhile, as JJ (Will Estes) and Beth (Rachel Boston) rekindle their relationship, the question of his relationship with Colleen (guest star Jessica Collins) comes up. Elsewhere, Meg (Brittany Snow) strikes up a musical friendship with Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) as they decide to save money by sharing records -- causing problems with JJ who quickly reminds his sister about the trouble she faced after her previous interactions with Sam. Meanwhile, Jack (Tom Verica) entrusts his new employee Nathan (guest star Keith Robinson), the nephew of Henry (Jonathan Adams), with delivery duty, but later questions his decision when Nathan fails to return.     Elevated in social standing after being asked to join the prom committee, Meg (Brittany Snow) and Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) attempt to boost their popularity further by offering the East Catholic "A-group" an after-hours visit to the "Bandstand" stage. However, when their evening of fun damages the set, the two socialites are afraid of being discovered by the show's producer. Elsewhere, Jack's (Tom Verica) attempts to get JJ (Will Estes) back on his feet only drives his son farther away as he deals with his fears of re-injuring his leg. A nervous Will (Ethan Dampf) worries about his impending soapbox derby race and the pressure of trying to please his dad.   22. Secrets and Lies
    Continuing her climb up the East Catholic high-school social ladder, Meg (Brittany Snow) spends a night with her new friend Carol (guest star Lauren Mayhew) and a few other popular girls but is forced to lie to her best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) - who wasn't invited - in an attempt to protect her friend's feelings. Elsewhere, a chance meeting between Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen's (Gail O'Grady) former teacher (guest star Robby Benson, "Beauty and the Beast") causes him to question the sanctity of his marriage. Henry (Jonathan Adams) continues his work on the new North Philly store, despite some rumblings from local residents and a disturbing graffiti message scrawled across the front.     As the Pryors head to Wildwood for summer vacation, Meg (Brittany Show) searches for a way to apologize to scorned best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) before the big "Bandstand Hop" at the beach while at the same time continuing her new friendship with Carol (guest star Lauren Mayhew). Elsewhere, Helen (Gail O'Grady) buckles under the guilt of her episode with Professor Witt (guest star Robby Benson, "Beauty and the Beast") - and finally confesses to Jack (Tom Verica) about the kiss. Meanwhile, back in Philly, JJ (Will Estes) celebrates his last high school summer growing closer to Beth (Rachel Boston) as they prepare to take the next step in their relationship and Henry's (Jonathan Adams) attempt to make the best of a hot summer's day lands him in jail.   24. High Hopes
    As the summer slowly comes to a close, JJ (Will Estes) leaves for college to begin training for the upcoming football season. However, when his recently healed ankle begins to bother the star running back, the Lehigh coaching staff starts to question the abilities of their new player. Meanwhile, feuding friends Meg (Brittany Snow) and Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) continue their silent summer, while Meg begins practicing her driving skills with the help of a skittish Luke (guest star Jamie Elman). Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) faces the harsh reality of the times when local police hassle him along with his cousin Nathan (guest star Keith Robinson) after a strict curfew is imposed in north Philly. Concerned by the mounting racial tensions. Henry (Jonathan Adams) and his family attend a rally led by Rev. Gillam (guest star Montel Williams).   25. City on Fire
    In the season finale, racial tensions begin to flare in North Philly sparking a massive riot, while an oblivious Meg (Brittany Snow) makes finale preparations for her sweet sixteen birthday party. Unaware of the violent situation building around her, Meg attempts to save her friendship with Sam (Arlen Escarpeta), visiting him at the new store, and finds herself in the middle of the urban chaos. Elsewhere, an angry Nathan (guest star Keith Robinson) who helped incite the violence, urges the enraged rioters forward, while Pete (guest star Matthew John Armstrong) and the rest of Philadelphia's finest race to quell the disturbance. Meanwhile, a defeated JJ (Will Estes) returns from Lehigh after being kicked off the football team and makes a surprising announcement to Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen (Gail O'Grady) about his future. While Michael Brooks (Joe Lawrence) reveals the possibility he might be leaving "Bandstand" for a new record-producing gig in California. R&B sensation Kelly Rowland guest stars as Martha Reeves of Martha & the Vandellas singing their classic hit "Nowhere to Run" and Pop singer Stacie Orrico guest stars as Peggy Santiglia of the Angels singing "My Boyfriend's Back" on "American Bandstand."

  1. And Promises to Keep
    Kelly Clarkson guest stars as Brenda Lee in the second season opener of "American Dreams" which finds the Pryor and Walker families trying to recover from the Philadelphia riots. Meg (Brittany Snow) tries to understand her strained relationship with Sam (Arlen Escarpeta), while JJ (Will Estes) gets shipped off to Camp LeJeune and makes an important decision about his relationship with Beth (Rachel Boston). Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen (Gail O'Grady) conflict over a new treatment for Will (Ethan Dampf) that could help him walk again. "American Bandstand" gets ready for a British Invasion of it own when Michael Brooks (Joseph Lawrence) makes an announcement.
     
  2. R-E-S-P-E-C-T
    Meg (Brittany Snow) and Luke (Jamie Elman) realizes that they have very different interests. Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) buys time with the new American Bandstand producer, Colin (Michael Rodgers), as she campaigns for Meg's return on Bandstand. JJ (Will Estes) is at boot camp and is competing for the title of Honor Man, as Beth (Rachel Boston) is at college, excited about her engagement to JJ. Patty (Sarah Ramos) has an academic surprise for her family, while Helen (Gail O'Grady) begins her own research on the new treatment for Will (Ethan Dampf) without Jack's (Tom Verica) knowledge. Henry (Jonathan Adams) announces to the Walker family that they are looking to move into a new neighborhood, which prompts Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) to look for a job.
     
  3. Another Saturday Night
    HelenÓs (Gail OÓGrady) life is about to change when Uncle Pete (Matt Armstrong) introduces his new girlfriend, Nancy (guest star Alicia Coppola) to the family. Meg (Brittany Snow) and Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) experience their first college party; Meg meets a new boy, Drew Mandel (Sam Page). Patty (Sarah Ramos) starts East Catholic and discovers high school isnÓt what she thought it would be. At a bar near boot camp, JJ (Will Estes) captures the interest of a mysterious woman, Diane (guest star Bellamy Young). Jack (Tom Verica) reluctantly agrees to coach WillÓs (Ethan Dampf) basketball team, and finds a surprise with his assistant coach. Henry (Jonathan Adams) and Gwen (Adina Porter) receive some devastating news, which will affect both the Pryors and the Walkers.   4. Crossing the Line
    Ã Helen (Gail OÓGrady) takes a job at a travel agency with Nancy (guest star Alicia Coppola) and discovers the difficulties of being a working mother, as Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen clash over balancing the family life. Beth (Rachel Boston) visits J.J. (Will Estes) at Camp Lejeune but things don't go as planned. Meg (Brittany Snow) tries to show Drew (Sam Page) sheÓs all grown up by doing her book report on a controversial book over her teacherÓs objections. Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) has a new boyfriend. Nathan (Keith Robinson) is furious when he discovers that Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) tries to take the Walkers family troubles into his own hands. Henry (Jonathan Adams) is devastated with the news of GwenÓs (Adina Porter) terminal condition.     Meg (Brittany Snow) attends a free speech rally at the college with Drew (Sam Page). Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and Lenny's (guest star Johnny Lewis) relationship heats up. Patty (Sarah Ramos) receives valuable advice from Luke (Jamie Elman). JJ (Will Estes) and Beth (Rachel Boston) make their engagement official. Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen (Gail O'Grady) make plans for Will's (Ethan Dampf) future. Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) makes a discovery that changes the Walker family's lives, as Henry (Jonathan Adams) tries to get through the tragedy. Kelly Rowland ("Can't Nobody," Freddy vs. Jason) reprises her role as Martha Reeves in Martha and the Vendellas with "Dancing in the Streets."
     
  6. Rescue Me
    When the PryorÓs receive word that WillÓs (Ethan Dampf) surgery will be fully funded by the March of Dimes, Jack (Tom Verica) believing Helen (Gail OÓGrady) no longer needs to work pushes her to quit her job. Elsewhere, Meg (Brittany Snow) sets a date with Drew (guest star Sam Page) only to have things go awry before she can even go on the date, while a love struck Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) makes an important choice about the progress of her own relationship with boyfriend, Lenny (guest star Johnny Lewis). JJÓs (Will Estes) situation with Diane (guest star Bellamy Young) reaches a boiling point, sending him one step closer to the front lines of the war and Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) and Nathan (guest star Keith Robinson) continue to look into the Muslim faith and the teachings of Malcolm X. Blake Shelton ("Playboys of the Southwestern World") also guest stars as a local bar singer, singing "Playboys of the Southwestern World." Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys ("FallinÓ") guest stars as Fontella Bass singing, "Rescue Me."
     
  7. Ticket to Ride
    JJ (Will Estes) comes home for two weeks and informs the family that he will be stationed in Okinawa. Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) drops out of school to tour with her boyfriend's band. Meg (Brittany Snow) finally goes on a real date with Drew (guest star Sam Page). As Helen (Gail O'Grady) prepares Will (Ethan Dampf) for the hospital, she starts to have doubts about the surgery. Jill Rappaport ("The Today Show") guest stars as a journalist. Steadman (Simon Steadman, James Board, Russell Field, David Walton, Chris Murphy, "No Big Deal") guest stars as Dave Clark Five, singing, "Do You Love Me."
     
  8. Change a Comin'
    Meg (Brittany Snow) asks JJ (Will Estes) and Beth (Rachel Boston) to double date with she and Drew (guest star Sam Page) to see Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and her boyfriend's band play in Harrisburg. Following Will's (Ethan Dampf) surgery, Helen (Gail O'Grady) visits him at the hospital and notices something is not quite right. Meanwhile, against his father's wishes, Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) goes to see Malcolm X speak. Nancy (guest star Alicia Coppola) breaks up with Uncle Pete (guest star Matthew Armstrong) over his drinking and Patty (Sarah Ramos) makes a friend at school. Hilary Duff ("So Yesterday") and Haylie Duff ("Girl in the Band") guest star as the Shangri-Las, singing "The Leader of the Pack."
     
  9. The Long Goodbye
    As JJ (Will Estes) says his last goodbyes to his family and friends, he and Meg (Brittany Snow) continue to fight about her dating Drew (guest star Sam Page). Meanwhile, Beth (Rachel Boston) is having issues with her own mother and turns to Helen (Gail O'Grady) for support. Even though Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) likes being on the road with the band, she realizes something that makes her decide to go home and Henry (Jonathan Adams) and Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) continue to have a strained father-son relationship. Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) guest stars as a Yardbird singing The Yardbirds' hit "For Your Love."
     
  10. The 7-10 Split
    Meg (Brittany Snow) makes a dating decision about Drew (guest start Sam Page), while Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and Luke (guest star Jamie Elman) share a moment. As Jack (Tom Verica) and Henry (Jonthan Adams) are dealing with the bad news of the store being robbed, Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) finds himself with some good news and an important decision to make - he has been accepted to two colleges, an Ivy League, and an all-black university. In anticipation of Will (Ethan Dampf) coming home from the hospital, Helen (Gail O'Grady) sends Patty (Sarah Ramos) to get him a hamster and she develops a crush on the pet store boy. Stationed in Vietnam, JJ (Will Estes) gets accepted into the elite Marine group, the Untouchables. Jennifer Love Hewitt guest stars as Nancy Sinatra, singing "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and Brad Paisley guest stars as Ricky Nelson singing "Dreamlover." Josh Kelly also guest stars as Barry Maguire performing "Eve of Destruction" in the Vinyl Crocodile.
     
  11. Beyond the Wire
    Tension in the Pryor household increases when Meg (Brittany Snow) brings Drew (guest start Sam Page) home for dinner, and it is apparent that Jack (Tom Verica) is having trouble finding Drew likeable. Meanwhile, Helen (Gail O'Grady) is struggling to balance her professional career and family and is devastated when she misses an important moment in Patty's (Sarah Ramos) life. As Jack and Pete (guest star Matthew Armstrong) are figuring out a way to install a security camera in the store, they notice that Henry (Jonathan Adams) has a lady admirer. In Vietnam, JJ (Will Estes) engages with the enemy for the first time, and learns an important lesson in war.
     
  12. Real-to-Reel
    JJ (Will Estes) continues to learn about the harsh realities of war after the US destroys the village of a Vietnamese family he just met. Back at home, his own family lovingly assembles him a care package and records well-wishes on an audio reel. Jack (Tom Verica) goes to a conference and is not only surprised by Pete's (guest star Matthew Armstrong) arrival, but also by Pete's conduct with the women. Meanwhile, mayhem breaks out at home as Meg (Brittany Snow) continues to push the envelop with dating Drew (guest star Sam Page). Then Patty (Sarah Ramos) discovers a secret about Helen (Gail O'Grady) and shares it with Meg, who exposes it during an argument with her mother after she she's caught breaking curfew. Things heat up when Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) realizes she has feelings for Luke (guest star Jamie Elman), and Henry (Jonathan Adams) accepts money from the Muslims to open his own repair store. Macy Gray ("When I See You") guest stars as R&B legend Carla Thomas singing, "B.A.B.Y." Rich Vos also guest stars as Lenny Bruce performing standup at the Lair.
     
  13. To Tell the Truth
    As Meg (Brittany Snow) continues to see Drew (guest star Sam Page) behind her parents' back, Patty (Sarah Ramos) discovers Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and Luke's (guest star Jamie Elman) secret. At the Father/Daughter UNICEF charity dance, Meg realizes that she can't continue to lie to her parents. Jack's (Tom Verica) anger causes Meg to take drastic measures. Meanwhile, Henry (Jonathan Adams) has disturbing news for Jack regarding his new repair store, and in Vietnam, JJ (Will Estes) encounters the enemy and strikes first. Nick Lachey (former lead singer of 98 Degrees) guest stars as Tom Jones singing, "It's Not Unusual, " and Charlotte Martin (debut album to be released summer 2004 "On Your Shore") also guest stars as Petula Clark singing "Downtown."
     
  14. Old Enough to Fight
    After running away from home, Meg (Brittany Snow) decides she needs a new look and enlists Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) for a makeover. A worried Helen (Gail O'Grady) finds Meg staying at Roxanne's, and asks her to return home, but her relationship with her parents continue to be strained until something drastic happens with her boyfriend. In addition to dealing with his problems at home, Jack (Tom Verica) realizes that he has some issues at work with Henry (Jonathan Adams), and makes a pivotal decision that will change the future of Pryor TV & Radio. On the other side of the world, JJ (Will Estes) and the troops are entertained by the USO, a much needed distraction as JJ struggles with the realities of war. Chris Isaak ("Let Me Down Easy," "The Chris Isaak Show") guest stars as Roy Orbison singing, "Pretty Woman." Jennifer Love Hewitt reprises her role as Nancy Sinatra with "These Boot Are Made for Walking", and "Sunny." NBC's "Days Of Our Lives" guest stars with Alison Sweeney as Miss USA, Farah Fath as a Playboy Bunny, John Aniston as a man seeking employment at Pryor TV & Radio, and Frances Reid as a woman watching the premiere episode of "Days Of Our Lives" in the store. Tyler Hilton guest stars as a singer singing the Beatles "I've Just Seen a Face."
     
  15. Shoot the Moon
    - Jimmy Riley (guest star Jesse Hutch) returns to Philadelphia from Vietnam, and reunites with Meg (Brittany Snow) at Bandstand. Meg's opinionated viewpoints causes some controversy with she and Colin (guest star Michael Rodgers), so he gives her new role at WFIL, and Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) finally reveals her secret to Meg. Meanwhile, Henry (Jonathan Adams) introduces his new lady friend to Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) and Angela (guest star Aysia Polk), and Uncle Pete (guest star Matthew Armstrong) and Nancy's (guest star Alicia Coppola) wedding does not go as planned, which leaves her heartbroken. In Vietnam, a friend from boot camp joins JJ (Will Estes) and the Untouchables, and their friendship is tested under the constraints of war, with tragic results. Ricky Fante ("It Ain't Easy") guest-stars as Wilson Pickett singing "Land of A Thousand Dances," and Bonnie McKee (debut album to be released May 2004 "Trouble") guest-stars as Janis Joplin in the Lair signing "Summertime."
     
  16. Can't Hold On
    Beth (Rachel Boston) brings Meg (Brittany Snow) with her to shop for wedding dresses before meeting JJ (Will Estes) in Hawaii for some R&R, but the trip is anything but restful, and they leave broken up. When Meg confronts Beth, Beth breaks down and reveals something that even JJ doesn't know. Meanwhile, Meg is enjoying her new job filing tapes for WFIL news, where she meets someone who helps her become more politically attuned. And Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) is surprised to discover that Lenny (guest star Johnny Lewis) is back in town, which disrupts her life and new romance with Luke. Meanwhile, Patty (Sarah Ramos) decides to revisit a lost romance with the boy she met at the pet shop, and at Pryor's TV & Radio, Jack (Tom Verica) and Henry (Jonathan Adams) are not the only ones feeling the pressures of the encroaching big businesses, and Jack is approached by his fellow small business owners with a life-changing solution. Liz Phair ("Extraordinary") guest-stars as Jackie DeShannon singing "Walk in the Room."
     
  17. Chasing the Past
    As Jack (Tom Verica) begins to learn about city politics, Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) becomes more aware of the societal differences in the world. Meanwhile, Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and Luke (guest star Jamie Elman) are conflicted as they try to decide on the fate of their relationship, and Patty (Sarah Ramos) and Meg (Brittany Snow) share an unusual sisterly moment when Patty takes the rap for crashing their father's car after Meg confides in her about Beth (Rachel Boston). Beth finally tells her parents her secret, and they give her two choices -- neither of which is easy. Meanwhile, JJ (Will Estes) resumes his life as a top Marine, where he is promoted to a squad that rescues American POWs.   18. Stewart's Charge
    Corporal Stewart (guest star John Sloan), The Untouchables new squad leader, puts JJ (Will Estes) and his squad in jeopardy, and then lies to their sergeant by wrongfully blaming Pham Son (guest star Tang Nguyen). After this incident, Corporal Stewart makes a call during another enemy encounter, where Private Perez (guest star JD Pardo) decides to take matters into his own hands, and JJ has to step up and take command of the squad. Helen (Gail O'Grady) and Jack (Tom Verica) also take matters into their own hands after finding out that Beth's (Rachel Boston) parents have disowned her since she will keep the baby, which creates an interesting situation for Jack, who has decided to run for city councilman. Meanwhile, the Walker family is dealing with Nathan (guest star Keith Robinson) returning to jail since he unsuccessfully contested the draft as a conscientious objector, and as Patty's (Sarah Ramos) interest in Carl (guest star Wes Robinson) culminates to a date, Luke (guest star Jamie Elman) makes a hard decision about his relationship with Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies). Jason Mraz ("Remedy") guest-stars as Dion signing "Ruby Baby," and Fefe Dobson ("Take Me Away") guest-stars as Tina Turner signing "River Deep Mountain High."
     
  19. No Way Out
    As the anti-war movement gains momentum, Meg (Brittany Snow) and Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) get caught in the crossfire at an anti-war rally and finds themselves taking a stand that may have severe consequences in their future. Jack (Tom Verica) also takes a stand on Beth (Rachel Boston) and her marital status as he begins his campaign for city councilman. Helen (Gail O'Grady) makes a shocking discovery at work and Patty (Sarah Ramos), disappointed with her first date, turns to Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) for advice. Meanwhile, JJ (Will Estes) and his squad are surrounded by the Viet Cong and under heavy gunfire when they are told they will not be receiving backup and will be on their own. Wyclef Jean (formerly with The Fugees, "Killing Me Softly") guest-stars as Curtis Mayfield singing "Woman's Got Soul," Alex Band and Aaron Kamin of The Calling ( "Wherever You May Go" ) guest-stars as college protest singers, and Jack Ford ("Living It Up with Ali & Jack") guest-stars as Professor Powers.
