Season Four

  1. Parralox
Conscious that "One job is so last Millennium," Edina (Jennifer Saunders) has added TV production to her business portfolio. Patsy (Joanna Lumley) has decided to grow old disgracefully with the help of parralox injections to freeze her wrinkles, and Saffy (Julia Sawalha) is praying that her New Labour job interview goes to plan so that she can finally escape them both. In between trying to align her lower Chakras and blag her way into London’s trendiest drinking den, Edina manages to land herself and client Twiggy guest appearances on Richard and Judy - much to the annoyance of her new partner, ruthless TV presenter Katy Grin (Jane Horrocks). But as her TV appearance draws near, Edina’s vanity and Patsy’s bullying get the better of her and she succumbs to the power of Parralox.
  2. Fish Farm
Patsy and Edina have been moshing at a Marilyn Manson concert. "Rock stars with a needle in their arm, not a hook in a trout. No gentleman farmer ex-rockers. No fish farms!", proclaims Edina on their return. The following morning Eddy finds an attractive young man in her garden. Tousle-haired Jago (Crispin Bonham-Carter) turns out to be the landscape gardener hired by Saffy, but Patsy recognises him as the younger brother of a well known aristocrat who inherited a huge estate in Hertfordshire - in other words he’s rolling in it. Egged on by Patsy, Eddy turns on the charm. Amazingly, Jago returns her simpering stares and soon they are in the midst of a passionate clinch. Will Edina get her dream - a life in a huge house with servants - or is there more to Jago’s future than meets the eye? Mother (June Whitfield) is also flirting for Britain, competing with her friend Dolly (Dora Bryan) for the attentions of agent Brice (Tim Wylton), the smoothy who has got her a job as an extra on the new Harry Potter film.
  3. Paris
A photo shoot in Paris gives Patsy the chance to relive her modeling days and spend time with her new best friend, super model Erin O’Connor. The Monsoon Household accompany her across the Channel, as Edina drags Saffy along for a mother and daughter "Generation Flex" feature. But Eddy has trouble persuading her mild-child daughter to get into the swing - and out of that frumpy outfit. "Darling, just so it doesn’t look like that blouse is trying to strangle you," she pleads attempting to undo Saffy’s top button. "I’m not asking you to get your ta-tas out." Patsy finds the shoot is not quite the glamorous trip down memory lane she expected and struggles to cope with fresh-faced, hideously unflattering clothes and Rimmer (Dave Gorman), the photographer from hell. Eddy and Saffy, however, spend an unusually pleasant day together, hitting the shops and bars. But what is Edina plotting? And will Patsy crack under the pressure?
  4. Donkey
Despite having tried every fad diet going, Edina is still desperate to be thin, all she wants is to be able to take her clothes off and not be marked by them. The answer is detox. Spurred on by a Sex And The City-style lunch with her bitchy girlfriends, Edina embarks on a strict regime of water and red meat and enrolls herself in a grueling British Military Fitness programme. Despite Patsy’s best efforts, Eddy eschews champagne and begins to shed the pounds. But her nights are plagued with visits from God (Marianna Faithfull) and the devil (Anita Pallenberg), who have their own agendas. Meanwhile, budding playwright Saffy bumps into a pretentious old school friend, Taylor Johns (Julian Rhind-Tutt), who attempts to use her in his bid to further his acting career, and Patsy decides to see what life is like without her trademark Sixties forelock.
  5. Small Opening
Saffy’s first play, Self-Raising Flower, based on her young life, is opening at the local fringe theatre. Afraid that Saffy’s play could bring her public humiliation, Edina plots with Bubble to get the run cancelled. But they fail and the show goes on. Saffy’s father, Justin turns up to support his daughter on the opening night, as does Edina’s first husband, Marshall and his loud American girlfriend Bo (Mo Gaffney). Edina and Patsy reluctantly turn up to the performance, with Patsy adding her own ad-libs from the stalls.

  6. Menopause
Eddie is losing all her clients to a rival PR agent, Claudia Bing, and she hasn't made a single show in her TV company.  While giving Eddie a quick back massage Patsy breaks her wrist bone. Saffy says Patsy should go to a hospital, but Patsy says its OK, because the other day the same happened to her ankle. Saffy says Patsy has menopause, and Eddie is soon to follow. The women refuse to believe they have menopause. Saffy sets up a MA meeting, Menopause Anonymous much to Patsy and Eddies horror. They are stuck in Eddies living room with "women on the edge", including a cameo from Ruby Wax. Patsy knows to stay on her feet she wants to move into the spare room at Eddies, but Saffy wont allow it. While on her "menopause patches" Patsy turns into a real Delia Smith, which confuses Saffy. One night, Patsy announces after a party where Mick Jagger was she got hold of some of his sperm and is going to have his baby. Saffy is horrified saying no child should have Patsy as a mother. She aggress to let Patsy stay in the house if she wont impregnate herself with Mick's sperm, and Patsy agrees. Eddie meanwhile has nothing, even Bubble has left. Claudia has even stolen Twiggy, and Katie Grin sold her half of the TV company to Claudia. Eddie accepts Claudia's new offer, Claudia will but Eddie out of the company and throw in some stars to help Eddie get her PR company back. The end of the series has another great future clip of Eddie and Patsy at home dancing.

Season Five

  1. Cleanin'
Saffy has been away in Iraq as an aid worker and Eddy has had no-one to curb her extravagance. A 'lap pool' has been installed in the bathroom and Eddy is receiving regular, expensive, tan treatments. Her approach to business has also become increasingly sloppy. Clients have deserted her in droves.
Eddy is not unduly worried. She continues to take little interest in her remaining client - Emma Bunton.
On the day of Saffy's return Eddy gets her act together. Everyone is enlisted to clean the house from top to bottom. Even Patsy helps out.
When Saffy finally arrives home she has some shocking news in store for Eddy.

  2. Book Clubbin'
Saffy receives a visit from her sadistic midwife and is subjected to a demonstration of most painful aspects of childbirth. Eddy meets with her bookclub and is distressed to find that Elizabeth Hurley has pulled out at the last minute. Only Patsy, Plum and Mariella Frostrup turn up to discuss the literary merits of OK! magazine.
Meanwhile Saffy has invited John - her baby's father - to the house to tell him the good news. Eddy is ecstatic to discover that John is black and that her grandchild will therefore be mixed race. "It's the Chanel of babies!" she crows.

  3. Panickin'
Eddy has installed a state of the art "panic room". It contains TV monitors to view the rest of the house, board games and, of course, alcohol. Eddy is happy with her purchase; Saffy is, as ever, disapproving.
Meanwhile Patsy has an eventful day at Jeremy's and meets Minnie Driver. The rather spoiled Minnie is intent on acquiring free designer clothes. Patsy persuades her to visit Eddy's for a personal styling session.
During Minnie's visit, Patsy and Eddy accidentally lock themselves in the panic room. The booze is quickly consumed and they find their eyes glued to Saffy on the CCTV. But will they find out anything juicy?

  4. Huntin', Shootin' and Fishin'
Eddy has splashed out on a weekend of country pursuits. Arriving at the stately home Patsy and Eddy meet the stern gamekeeper who will act as their guide. They are disappointed to find that hunting and killing small animals is off the menu. Instead they have to make do with a more sedate clay pigeon shoot and a (very) brief horse ride.
Meanwhile Saffy is at home hanging out with her girlfriends - Emma and Sarah. It's not long until Sarah starts to display and unhealthy interest in Emma's fame.
Back at the country pile the great hunters manage to down a pheasant. They take its lifeless body back to their room in triumph. Their slumber that night is interrupted - it seems the pheasant wasn't so lifeless after all.
In Holland Park things aren't going so smoothly either - it seems Emma has acquired a stalker. Can Saffy save the day?

  5. Birthin'
It's a big night for Patsy. She's about to host the Style Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. Patsy has acquired some exclusive Huki Muki gear for the occasion.
Saffy having reached blimp-size is about to go into labour and opts for a home birth. Unfortunately her waters break all over Patsy's awards outfit.
Patsy is naturally apoplectic with rage. Her hatred for Saffy reaches new heights. Edina is meanwhile paralysed by her squeamishness. It's hard to believe she once gave birth to a child herself.

  6. Schmoozin'
Eddy has rekindled her relationship with childhood sweetheart Pete. Pete is an engineer at Abbey Road studios and has found some lost Beatles recordings.
In order to trumpet the discovery Eddy wants to throw a listening party. Elton John is of course invited.
Nostalgic for the sixties and itching to see inside the hallowed recording studio Eddy and Patsy pop along to Abbey Road. After Pete has showed them around and Eddy has a little tinkle on Paul McCartney's piano, the duo are left to their own devices. But can they be trusted in such a historic environment?

  7. Exploitin'
Baby Jane's bawling is driving Eddy nuts. Saffy isn't finding much joy in her new motherhood either. But help is at hand - in the unexpected form of Patsy.
Unbeknownst to Saffy, Patsy has found Jane a modelling assignment. Now if Saffy can just be persuaded to leave the house with John...
Free from Saffy's watchful eyes Eddy, Patsy and Jane head off to the fashion shoot. Jean-Paul Gaultier is on location much to the delight of Eddy and Patsy. In fact they seem so distracted by Jean-Paul that they take their eyes of Baby Jane. Will Eddy manage to return her safely home without mishap?

Has she ruined the wedding? Will Saffy forgive her? And more importantly will that expensive honeymoon go to waste?

  2. Gay (2002)
Patsy has now left her job on a glossy magazine to become a very important Creative Director and Buyer for Jeremy’s, a new concept fashion store.
This gives Patsy, Fleur, and Catriona the perfect opportunity to take London Fashion Week by storm. Having got a taste for flash photography, frocks and male models, Patsy sets her sights across the Atlantic and plans a trip to New York Fashion Week.
Eddy is still trying to lose weight while also attempting to properly train Bubble as her PA. However Mother lets it slip that Eddy’s long lost son Serge is not studying at the bottom of the ocean, but living in the party capital of America - New York.
Despite Saffy's best attempts to hide her brother’s exact whereabouts, Eddy and Patsy set their sights on the Big Apple in search of Serge and some "bling, bling".
While the pair wreak havoc in the city that never sleeps, Bo and Serge's father, Marshall are running a Christian TV show and Saffy is observing the world from inside a cupboard as she believes this will help her career as a writer.

  3. Drinkin' (2003)
It's been a big year in the Monsoon household, Saffy has got herself a boyfriend and given birth to a baby girl. Edina has come to terms with becoming a grandmother - but not with her grand-daughter's name Jane, she prefers Lola.
Even more surprisingly she's developed a closer relationship with Saffron. Patsy meanwhile is feeling put out and neglected, particularly after failed attempts to move into celebrity styling and awards presenting, not to mention the discovery of those porn movies.
However Christmas is guaranteed party time - Patsy and Eddie always go away to somewhere hot and exotic and drink themselves into a stupor. Patsy hates Christmas and refuses to acknowledge its existence.
Unfortunately Eddie has other plans this year and for the very first time, she wants to stay at home with Saffy and her grand-daughter. She's even applying her usual restrained shopping style on Christmas presents. Saffy is thrilled with her Mum's new found interest in Christmas but is getting tired of her attempts to commercialise the day.
Bubble meanwhile is less impressed with her new role as the Christmas Fairy while Bo and Marshall are working on a fantastic new product "Staylene" - ideal for dealing with Christmas excesses. John is fascinated to find out that Eddie's first husband is gay and has a lot of questions to ask.
All of this Christmas spirit is too much for Patsy, she starts hallucinating about past Christmas' with her mother and sister. She collapses and has to be rushed into hospital. Has 43 (67) years of drug and alcohol abuse finally taken its toll - is this the end for Patsy?

  4. Cold Turkey (2003)
Eddie spends her first Christmas at home, much to Saffy's chagrin, and goes all out for the festivities. John is preoccupied with knowing the details of Justin's sex life. Marshall and Bo arrive for Christmas with their details of the infomercial they've been doing "since the bottom fell out of the baby business." Patsy, who detests Christmas, is happy when she collapses and gets to spend a few days on drugs in the hospital... though it seems that her condition may be more dire than anyone realized.

  5. The Story Of Absolutely Fabulous (2004)
Was Patsy once a man? Who nearly put Joanna Lumley off taking the role? Who was originally going to be Saffy? And what do Marisa Berensen, Jennifer Saunders and Lynne Franks all have in common? How is Ruby Wax involved?
